High Five for Friday

I missed last week. It was a busy day. I had a doctor appointment, then when I got home I had to clean and get ready for a Thirty One party I was having that night. Thankfully Levi was a good boy and I got ready in time, for the most part.

1. Levi gives the best kisses!

2. A nice surprise when I got home from work Monday.

3. Levi is getting the whole using a spoon thing down pretty good! It's usually pretty messy, but he can scoop and get it to his mouth on his own really well! He's pretty proud of himself when he does it! :)

4. We went to the pool TWICE this week! Once in Renville to the kiddie pool, and just last night to the Benson pool with Jess and the kids. Levi loves the water!

5. Our raspberry bush is producing like three times as many berries as it has the past 2 years combined. I am not sure what to do with them! Levi loves to help me pick them. He can pick them off himself and eats them, but I have to watch him because he doesn't always pick the ripe ones. I don't think he'd like one that is still white, with the stem attached! Silly kid.

14 months

....only a few weeks late! It's not quite July yet...

Finally remembered to take some pics of Levi the other night so I could post his 14 month update! Paul helped me a little so that was nice!

He is a little monkey! He can get onto almost any chair on his own now, sometimes it takes some effort though. It's actually quite humorous to watch him sometimes. He's going to have some strong arms the way he pulls himself to get up!

I can't remember if I had this in his last month update, but he has one molar. The other side has quite a bump, so I'm thinking that will break through in the next couple weeks too.

He's pretty much running now. Always on the go!

He has some pretty good dance moves! Ha! His latest is hitting his hands together in front of's hard to explain unless you see it! Every time I try to get it on video he quits, imagine that! If I ever do I will post it.

Talking and babbling a lot. You can tell he wants to say things but we can't quite understand them yet. He still says sh-ss a lot (shoes),woof, and toot-toot when the train goes by. Also mama and dada

When Paul gets home from work, he runs to the door and when he sees it's daddy, he runs back and grabs his shoes. He knows daddy takes him outside alot!

Gives kisses! When I take him up for bed I tell him to go give daddy a kiss goodnight, and he runs over there and gives him a big kiss then runs back to me. It's the cutest thing ever!

He's started hitting a bit lately, mostly to me and Paul, he'll just smack you on the face all of a sudden. Sometimes he does it when he's mad that I won't let him have something, or move him from somewhere he shouldn't be. I am trying to teach him what being nice means. So we'll see how that goes! No hitting any other kids at daycare or anything that I know of though.

He puts his hands up (like the picture above) when he is all done at meal times. Sometimes he does it when he says wassaaht (what's that I think is what he is saying!). But mostly if I ask him 'Are you all done?' he'll put his hands up like that.

He is growing fast and learning lots!

BLT Bites

I made these little BLT Bites for a Thirty-One party I had last week. The recipe actually comes from a little cookbook my mom got for free at Crafts Direct. They were a hit! They were a teeny bit more work than I thought they were going to be, but so worth it! If I would have had one of those spoons with the pointed ends it would have been much easier to clean the insides of the tomatoes out. It also took a little time to cook the bacon. You could probably use bacon bits, but I like the real stuff in this recipe.

BLT Bites

16-20 cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup mayo or salad dressing (I used Miracle Whip)
3 Tbsp parmesan cheese
1 lb bacon, cooked & crumbled (I chopped it)
1/3 c green onion, chopped
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Cut a small slice off of each tomato. Scoop out and discard pulp. Invert the tomatoes onto a paper towel to drain. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; mix well. Spoon into tomatoes. Refrigerate for several hours. Enjoy!

Father's Day

It only took me a week, but I'm finally getting some pics up from Father's Day! We went to Glacial Lakes State Park for a little while in the afternoon. We were hoping to swim and go on the trails around the lake, but it didn't go exactly as we planned. We got partway along the trail and it was blocked by trees down, so that ended that plan! So we turned around and walked down to the beach. It was cloudy and a little chilly to swim, so we didn't do that either. It was nice to spend some time together though. We're hoping to do some more of these day trips though, since we bought a MN State Park pass. Here's the pics!

Levi was such a good boy. He wanted to go in the water so bad! Hopefully next time! My attempt at a family picture failed..

little country boy!

When Levi was born, my aunt Angel gave me a bag of some outfits she saved from when my cousin Sawyer was little, he was also an April baby. Not all of them fit Levi, but this one was too cute not to put on him just for fun to take some pics! He wasn't real interested in more photos, but I got a couple cute ones!

High Five for Friday

Friday is here once again! Geez, the weeks go by too fast in the summer!!

1. Grilling with friends. We got a babysitter Saturday night and went to a bbq that some of our friends were having. Good food, good friends, good time! Can't go wrong!

2. Levi's first ice cream cone! My mom came up Sunday to hang out, and after we went to the antique store in Morris we stopped at DQ on the way home. Levi loved his ice cream cone, but didn't quite get how to lick it yet, so after letting him investigate it a little, we gave it to him with a spoon. Yum!

3. Happy mail! The summer book I ordered from Elise Joy came in the mail this week. I love it! I've already started saving things and taking pictures to add to it. The colors are just so pretty.

4. My elliptical that had been collecting dust for the past year is finally gone. I sold it on a swap and shop site on facebook. I'd really like to get a treadmill now, but we'll have to see what happens this fall.

5. Someone got another haircut! He did SO good this time! I was so proud of him! Levi, not Paul, in case anyone was wondering. We gave him a sucker and he just went to town on that while Annette trimmed away. I think he looks pretty darn handsome! Such a big boy now!

Have a good week!

we've got a climber!

Levi has been honing his climbing skills the past couple weeks. He's mastered getting onto the couch by himself, and can easily get onto the dining room chairs (and then to the table of course) if we don't push them under the table. If it has a ledge, he is trying to climb it. Thankfully, he does very well at getting off of things too. He knows how to get down by going backwards. He thinks he's pretty smart. Lately he's been trying to back off the changing table...yeah, I don't think that one would work out so well bud...even if you do go backwards. Here is some photographic evidence of his climbing adventures.

He got up there all on his own, with the water bottle in his hand the whole time. Unfortunately, this time didn't have such a graceful ending, he decided to try and sit and fell backwards before I had a chance to grab him. A few minutes cuddling with blankie and his binker (and mom), and he was off and running again.

I love the 'HAHA look what I did!!' look on his face!

High Five for Friday

Wow, I've been pretty horrible at keeping this blog up to date lately. At least I've been posting once a week with my high five for Friday I guess!

Pretty standard week for the most part. Gettin' warm around here though, summer has definitely arrived!

1. More graduations this past weekend! We went to Spicer for my cousin Sierra's graduation. It was fun to hang out with my dad's side of the family for awhile, we don't see them as often as my mom's side. Levi had fun running around and making himself at home. They had a little duckling and some kittens, so of course he loved those! My cousin Ryan's party was also that same day, but we didn't make it to that one. It would have been a lot of driving for Levi.

2. I was able to go for an unexpected walk with a couple friends on Tuesday morning, so that was a lot of fun! Not so fun were the blisters I got from going for said walk in flip-flops because I didn't have tennis shoes in my car. Reminder: Unexpected walk=not prepared. It was worth it though.

3. I took Levi to the lake that is a mile or so out of town. He LOVED it! Just walked right in and sat down in the sand. He had a blast splashing and digging in the sand. I'm sure we'll be going there some more in the next few weeks before the lake turns's not a very deep lake so it's not very good for swimming after June/July.

4. Zappos free shipping is awesome. I ordered a pair of sandals for Levi, expecting standard 5-8 day shipping, and they were here in 2 days. Sadly, I'm going to have to return them. They were a little snug on him.

5. Visitors today! Jess and the kids came to play and get some rhubarb from us. The kids always have fun with each other! :)

High Five for Friday

Late today but at least I'm getting it posted! We had a really good Memorial weekend. A lot of running around some days, but it was fun. Here are my five!

1. Last Friday I went to St. Cloud with my friend Heather. We just had a few stops to make, so not a huge shopping trip or anything. We had Levi and her 6-week old along so we didn't have too high of expectations! For lunch we went to Buffalo Wild has been a looong time since I've been there, but YUM!! I had fish tacos and they were awesome! Really simple, but sooo good. That was probably the highlight of the trip for me, haha! :)

2. My mom turned FIFTY last week, and this past weekend we had a little 'surprise' supper for her. We took her out for supper and invited family to come with, but she didn't know it, so that was the surprise part! After supper, the six of us went back to their house and had a little bonfire after I put Levi to bed. Fun night!

3. Sunday night one of our friends turned THIRTY, so we went to a surprise birthday party for him, too. We actually missed the surprise because we were late, but it was fun to hang out with all of our friends in one place again! It's been a long, long time since we've done that. Getting married, having kids, and moving away can do that I guess!!

4. Memorial Day=LONG WEEKEND. Besides all the other fun stuff I already mentioned from the past weekend, we had Monday off, which is always nice.
The first pic is from Sunday at my mom and dad's...Levi loved 'driving' on grandpa's lawn mower! On Monday we grilled for supper, and the last pic is Levi's favorite place in the yard...the dirt. We don't have anything planted in that particular spot and that is the first place he goes when we're outside. He likes to watch the neighbor kids when they are outside too, that's what he's looking at.

5. ZUMBA!! I tried it for the first time on Thursday and it was a lot of fun! The class I went to was actually Club Zumba, and I probably would have benefited from going to one of the regular classes first to get some of the moves down, because I have ZERO. I'm not a natural dancer by any means, so it's going to take some practice before I get the feel for it. It's definitely a workout though!
